Approach the dog in a safe manner
1.Present your side to the dog—not your front—from a standing or squatting position.
2.Don't lean over the dog.
3.Let the dog come to you rather than approaching the dog.
4.Avoid direct eye contact (don't stare the dog in the eyes).
5.Extend your hand toward the dog.
